Chokin entered the medical faculty of the Almaty State Medical Institute. Successfully completing it, he entered the post-graduate course. Since 1952 A.R. Chokin \u2013 assistant, then associate professor. In 1958 he defended his dissertation &#8220;The main stages in the development of sanitary-epidemiological service in Kazakhstan.&#8221; The same theme was dedicated to his doctoral dissertation (1967). \u00a0He was professor since 1968 year. From 1969 to 1988 he headed the newly established chair of the history of medicine, and from 1988 to 1992 becamethe head of department\u00a0 the social\u00a0 hygiene and public health system with the course of history of medicine, from 1993 to 1996 &#8211; professor of the Department of Social Medicine and Public Health Management and history of medicine. Merits of A.R.
