The Department of Physical Culture of KazMI was created in 1935. Its first head was Popova E.N., over the years the department was headed by: Makarenko B.G., Gut A.G., Seraliev M.S., Ivanov I.P., Smirnov V.M., Ryabtsov Yu.A., Bekbolatov T.S. Currently the head is Ph.D., Associate Professor Fadeуeva O.Yu.
Teachers of the department have trained more than 20 masters of sports and candidates for master of sports in various sports, hundreds of athletes of 1st, 2nd, 3rd categories.
Over the years, the pride of the department has been: Knight of the Order of the National Olympic Committee, judge of the international category, Honored coach of the Republic of Kazakhstan in athletics V.M. Radnov, Honored worker of sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Candidate of Sports of the USSR in boxing Novoseltsev V.P., MSMC in Greco-Roman wrestling , Athlete of the Year, Champion of the Asian Games Imanbaev A.Zh.
Over the years, the department organized meetings of students with Olympic champions: as part of the “Formula for Success” program (meetings of students with famous personalities and figures of the country and university), students met with the 1980 Olympic champion in Moscow in Greco-Roman wrestling, world champion Ushkempirov Zhaksylyk Amiralievich. Olympic boxing champion Ermakhan Ibraimov became a guest of the interuniversity sports competition. An open training was held with the participation of the First World Champion from Kazakhstan, three-time champion of Kazakhstan (2013, 2014, 2016), two-time World Champion Nazym Kyzaybay.
In 2021, the Department of Physical Education was renamed the Center for Physical Health.
Currently, the center has teachers: three-time Asian Champion, MSMK, MS of the Republic of Kazakhstan in rugby Kalen F., MS in basketball Rakhmetova G.N., MS in volleyball Pereverzeva N.V., MS in rhythmic gymnastics Kambarova A.Zh., CCM in basketball Dzhakipbaeva R.A., CCM in Greco-Roman wrestling Dzhigarbaev B.T., CCM in arm wrestling, sambo Asylkhan. B., CMS in freestyle wrestling Marshalkhan A., CMS in basketball Bauyrzhan Zh., CMS in Kazakh kuresi Chinibaev S.T.
Over the past five years alone, more than 60 scientific articles and four textbooks have been published on improving the training process and studying the influence of physical culture and sports in developing a healthy lifestyle for students.
The main directions of the physical health center: preparation for passing the presidential tests of physical fitness of the population of the Republic of Kazakhstan, improvement of students’ health through the means of physical culture and sports.
In general, the work of the physical health center is focused on introducing students to a healthy lifestyle, preserving and promoting health through physical culture and sports, scientific and methodological work is being carried out, and professional and applied training of future doctors is being carried out.
Today, the physical health center consists of qualified specialists in the field of physical education and sports, a close-knit team with great creative potential.
