On March 16, 2026, Almaty hosted the International Festival and scientific and practical conference “Nomadic Art: global image of steppe culture”, organized by the National Central Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Department of Tourism of the akimat of Almaty and the Union of ethnodesigners of Kazakhstan.
This event was held within the framework of the decade” Nauryznama”, dedicated to March 16 – the day of Culture and national traditions.
The main goal of the festival was the revival of national exhibits through modern ethnodesign, the promotion of nomadic culture at the world level and the strengthening of international creative ties.
Within the framework of the festival, a scientific and Practical Conference, an ethno-fashion show, an international exhibition of crafts, master classes on the modernization of ancient technologies, as well as strategic meetings with representatives of the creative industry were organized.
At the World Craft Cities Showcase, the participants got acquainted with the felting art of Taraz, the traditions of ceramics of Turkestan and the jewelry art of Almaty. In addition, unique performances in the fumage technique, ethnographic installations and interactive creative platforms were presented.

Students received valuable information about modern approaches to the preservation and promotion of the national cultural heritage, the importance of cultural tourism and the role of creative industries in the development of society. He also experimentally got acquainted with the technologies of traditional crafts by taking part in master classes.
