BIOETHICS OLYMPIAD HELD AT THE DEPARTMENT OF BIOSTATISTICS AND RESEARCH FUNDAMENTALS

Within the framework of SDG 4 “Quality Education”, an Olympiad in the discipline of Bioethics was held at the Department of Biostatistics and Fundamentals of Scientific Research on the topic “Observance of International Bioethics Standards for Sustainable Development”. The purpose of the Olympiad was to improve students’ knowledge in the field of bioethics, develop understanding of international ethical standards, and enhance skills in analyzing and solving bioethical cases.

The Olympiad was organized and conducted by the Head of the Department A. Aimakhanova, Lecturer D. Martykenova, and Assistant L. Asykbaeva.

The Olympiad was conducted in the format of group work and was organized in three rounds. During the Olympiad, participants completed tasks that included solving bioethical case studies, completing test questions, and identifying errors in a bioethics text. All rounds were aimed at assessing knowledge of international bioethics standards, principles of academic integrity, and the ability to apply bioethical principles in practice.

The following groups participated in the Olympiad: M23-012k, M23-063r, M23-046k, M23-011k, M23-020k.

According to the results of the Olympiad, the prizes were distributed as follows:
1st place – group M23-012k;
2nd place – group M23-063r;
3rd place – group M23-012k.

According to the results of the Olympiad, the winners and prize-winners were awarded certificates and commemorative prizes, while the participants were awarded certificates of participation, certificates signed by the Head of the Department of Biostatistics and Fundamentals of Scientific Research A. Aimakhanova and the Dean of the School of Public Health named after Kh. Dosmukhamedov Zh. Kozhekenova.

The Olympiad contributed to increasing students’ interest in bioethics, developing academic integrity, and understanding the importance of compliance with international bioethics standards in professional and research activities.

The department plans to continue organizing such events aimed at developing students’ scientific thinking, bioethical culture, and research skills.
