Meeting with specialists and students in the field of Medicine on the prospects of nursing

On November 12, 2023, the Head of the Department of Nursing at KazNMU named after S.D. Asfendiyarov, Seydumanov S.T., conducted an extended seminar-meeting in Taraz at the base of the Zhambyl Higher Medical College, in cooperation with the coordinator for nursing at the regional health department of Zhambyl Province. The seminar brought together nurses from various medical organizations, as well as managers and educators from medical colleges in the region.

During the event, key aspects of the current state of nursing were discussed, along with strategic directions for its further development, issues of improving nursing education, continuing education, and the implementation of new approaches to the professional training of nurses. Special attention was paid to the necessity of integrating educational institutions with practical healthcare, strengthening the human resources potential, and enhancing the role of nursing specialists in the country’s healthcare system. More than 85 people participated in the seminar, which facilitated a meaningful and lively exchange of opinions, during which attendees received clarifications and answers to many pressing and concerning questions.

On November 14, in Almaty, Saitumanov S.T., together with lecturers Sadakbaeva G.K., Tugel M.K., Makhambetova Sh.N., Mukhametkerim Zh.M., and Bigaliev A.M., held a meeting with students at the 1st City Clinical Hospital. During the event, current issues concerning students and faculty were discussed in detail. Special attention was given to the topic of the National Center for Healthcare Development (NCHD), including the procedures for documentation, changes, and requirements that will be implemented in the near future. Additionally, the format for conducting winter exams and the upcoming session was discussed: the evaluation criteria, the order for admission to exams, and the necessity for timely preparation for final certification were explained.

An important topic raised was student attendance in classes. The faculty stressed the importance of regular participation in the learning process, reminding students of the need to attend classes daily according to the established schedule, and the inadmissibility of absences without a valid reason. It was noted that to improve the quality of education and ensure transparency in the process, video recordings of classes, live video streams, and Zoom conferences would be used, allowing students to access materials in a timely manner and interact with instructors.

Sultan Seydumanov presented a detailed presentation on “Approval of the Nursing Development Plan, Optimizing Healthcare Human Resources through the Integration of Medical Colleges with Universities in Practical Healthcare of the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2025-2030,” which outlined key directions for optimizing the human resources capacity of healthcare. The main goals and objectives of nursing development were defined, emphasizing the need for the modernization of educational programs, strengthening practical-oriented training, and continuing education for nurses in accordance with international standards. Attendees had the opportunity to ask questions and discuss the proposed initiatives, facilitating a constructive dialogue about the future of nursing education in the country.
