Student Research Work (SRW) is an integral part of the educational process and is implemented within the studied disciplines and various types of academic activities in accordance with the Regulations on SRW.

“Technocrats” Student Scientific Club The “Technocrats” student scientific club operates under the Department of Information and Communication Technologies. Its activities aim to develop students’ research and practical competencies, fostering interest in modern information technologies and their applications in medicine.

Students participating in the “Technocrats” scientific club are actively engaged in research activities, contributing to the development and implementation of scientific projects, preparing scientific publications, and presenting their research findings.

In the 2025–2026 academic year, the Department of Information and Communication Technologies organized and conducted scientific and educational events aimed at developing students’ research, analytical, and digital competencies.

  1. Debate: “Artificial Intelligence in Medicine: Assistant or Competitor to the Doctor?” On December 2, 2025, the Department of Information and Communication Technologies hosted a debate titled “Artificial Intelligence in Medicine: Assistant or Competitor to the Doctor?”. Students from groups Ped 25-035a and St 24-26a participated in the event. During the debate, participants discussed the prospects of integrating artificial intelligence technologies into the healthcare system, their impact on the quality of medical care, and the role of the physician amid the digital transformation of medicine. The event was organized by department lecturers Usipbekova D. I. and Azhibekova Zh. Zh.
  2. International Olympiad: “Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare and Education” On April 17, 2026, the Department of Information and Communication Technologies organized and hosted the International Olympiad titled “Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare and Education” at Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University.

The Olympiad brought together 22 first-year student teams representing higher education institutions from Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Uzbekistan, and Ukraine. Participants demonstrated their knowledge and practical skills in applying artificial intelligence technologies within the medical and educational fields, presenting innovative projects and solutions aimed at advancing digital technologies.

The Olympiad fostered international academic cooperation, increased student interest in modern digital technologies, and helped form professional competencies in artificial intelligence. The event was organized by the Department of Information and Communication Technologies along with the scientific advisors of the participating teams.

  • Team NutriTech — Seidalina Aizada, 1st year, group MPD25-03k. Olympiad Title: International Olympiad “Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare and Education,” organized by the Department of Information and Communication Technologies of Asfendiyarov KazNMU. Venue and Date: April 17, 2026, Asfendiyarov KazNMU, Almaty. Result: 3rd Place.
  1. Interuniversity Student Subject Olympiad On February 26, 2026, first-year students from Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University — Zhampeisov Ayan, Shyraqbay Dzhalil, Bayakhmetova Aruzhan, Seidalina Aizada, and Quralbay Almedin — took part in the Interuniversity Student Subject Olympiad in Physics, Mathematics, and Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), dedicated to the “Year of Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence.” The Olympiad was organized by the Civil Aviation Academy (Department of General Education Disciplines) in Almaty.
